ZDX might ring a bell for many; the term was initially employed in an SUV with a sloped roof. Acura has repurposed it. The Z in ZDX refers to zero emissions, while DX are used for other Acura SUVs. Surprisingly, the Acura ZDX shares the technology and platform with the Cadillac Lyriq and is developed in the same factory as the Lyriq. The new Acura ZDX is the first-ever all-electric SUV from Acura.
Price
There are four variants of the Acura ZDX SUV, including A-Spec RWD, A-Spec AWD, Type S, and Type S Perf. Wheel & Tire. The Acura ZDX SUV’s price for the base model starts at $64,500 and it goes up to $74,500, depending on the options or the trim chosen.
Performance
The base-level Acura ZDX SUV, A-Spec, is a single motor vehicle that drives the rear wheels. It yields 342 horsepower. While the second motor is optional in the A-Spec trim, it can elevate the horsepower to 490. It also adds the all-wheel drive functionality. One distinguishing trim is the Type S. Powered by the electric motors, the Type S yields a combined 499 horsepower. It also comprises an air suspension system with 22-inch alloy wheels, adaptive dampers, and Brembo brakes.
In Type S, all-season tires come standard. But one can order summer tires if needed. Further, its quiet cabin and robust steering are the most loved attributes. The composed cruising demeanor only makes things better. Type S Acura ZDX delivers a smooth ride, even when powered by the 22-inch wheels.
Power
Power comes effortlessly in the Type S ZDX. The SUV’s dual motor helps maneuver on the curvy roads and twisty turns. The Acura ZDX has a good grip and a rapid acceleration, a shared trait amongst most electric SUVs. The base model Acura ZDX RWD sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the other Acura ZDX trims sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, faster than most other cars in the segment.
Range
The Type S ZDX is available in all-wheel drive only. It has an EPA-estimated range of 278 miles per charge when powered with summer performance tires. On the other hand, the A-Spec, the most economical base variant, drives 313 miles per charge. These range figures are similar to many other medium-sized luxury EVs. ZDX can effortlessly endure the DC fast-charging of about 190 kW. It can add about 80 miles in 10 minutes.
Interior
The Acura ZDX SUV’s interior is opulent. In the Type S, one can even pick an all-red interior. Plus, both front and rear seats are comfortable with generous padding on the side. The car comes with seat heaters that activate rapidly, ensuring a warm and relaxed experience. Moreover, the automatic climate control works well and maintains the desired temperature.
Technology
It is the first Acura EV to feature in-built Google as its infotainment interface. This implies that the majority of its touchscreen interface is Google-powered. For instance, its onboard navigation is Google Maps, like on one’s phones and laptops. Beyond this, it also has the Google Assistant voice control. In addition, the Google interface allows the ZDX owners to download different third-party apps via Google Play, such as Spotify. The interface is sleek and drivers can choose to use wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Storage
Behind the second row, this SUV offers 28.7 cubic feet of storage, which is quite decent. The SUV has ample storage to save small items. Further, its front cupholders can accommodate a wide bottle. It also has a huge center console.
