Jeep Gladiator – Features, price, and buying tips

Date:

The Jeep Gladiator is known to be a fun, reliable, and powerful pickup truck with off-road capabilities. Its solid towing capabilities appeal to truck buyers, while its suspension and all-wheel drive system cater to adventure enthusiasts. Not just performance, the new Jeep Gladiator also prioritizes interior technology to elevate the driving experience. That said, if considering buying this pickup, learning about its features and price can help one make an informed decision.

Features

Performance

The new Jeep Gladiator no longer has a V6 diesel engine like its predecessors. Now, the only configuration the pickup has is the gas-powered 3.6-liter V6 engine. This setup is paired with a manual six-speed transmission—a rare combination in trucks. That said, the pickup can be paired with an automatic eight-speed transmission.

The truck comes in four broad trim levels—Sport, Willys, Rubicon, and Mojave. Among the high-end off-roading trims, the Rubicon can reach 60 miles per hour in just 8.5 seconds, which is decent acceleration for a truck its size. The engine offers a strong and smooth performance, even at highway speeds. As for off-roading ability, the truck has a ground clearance of 10 inches, strong traction, a long wheelbase, and giant tires to easily tackle bumps on roads and tricky terrains.

As for mileage, the Jeep Gladiator can earn a combined fuel economy of 19 mpg, which is at par with midsized six-cylinder-powered AWD pickups.

Comfort and interiors

Occupant comfort is not a major concern for Gladiator buyers, as the pickup comes with key amenities like automatic climate control, roomy interiors, and 12-way power-adjustable seats to make long drives hassle-free. Occupants can also expect minimal road and wind noise in the car. Additionally, the pickup’s ride height allows it to handle the most challenging terrains with ease.

Even the controls in the Gladiator are conveniently placed, making them easily accessible. While the Gladiator is tall, getting in and out of the pickup is not difficult, thanks to the wide-opening doors and well-placed grab handles. That’s not all. The Jeep Gladiator is a convertible pickup, i.e., it has removable doors and a folding soft top. So, those who enjoy driving an open-air vehicle can do that in the Gladiator.

Another feature that enhances the convenience is high road visibility. Finally, adding an optional forward-looking camera to the standard rear camera setup in the Jeep Gladiator can further enhance visibility.

Technology

The Gladiator comes with a huge 12.3-inch touchscreen display with easy-to-use controls and features. The display also has crisp graphics and a responsive interface. Additionally, wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a standard feature in the pickup. The Gladiator also comes with basic safety features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and blind-spot warning, which add to the driver’s peace of mind even amid heavy traffic or on cramped roads.

Towing and storage

This is a key consideration for truck buyers. The Gladiator does not disappoint here, offering solid tow ratings of up to 7,000 pounds and an excellent payload capacity of about 1,300 pounds. The truck bed is thoughtfully designed with a power-locking tailgate and low bedsides.

Inside the truck, the rear seat can accommodate child seats and additional cargo (when folded down). The pickup also has a center console, glovebox, and in-door storage for holding small personal items.

Additionally, a few other features have been introduced to the Gladiator lineup. For instance, the new Jeep Gladiator comes with a new paint choice, Anvil—a grey clear-coat finish. The vehicle now has a rounder grille, a new windshield-integrated antenna, and premium wheel designs. Jeep has also added Rubicon X and Mojave X, which come with extra equipment such as steel bumpers. The new pickup also has side curtain airbags for rear and front passengers.

Price

The cheapest Jeep Gladiator is the base variant, Sport, which comes at a starting price of $39,790. If one adds packages or opts for higher trim levels (Rubicon X and Mojave X), they can expect to spend a maximum of $64,890. Other options are the Sport S, Nighthawk, and Willys trims, which are all priced under $50,000. The Texas Trail, High Tide, Beach, Rubicon, and Mojave variants are priced between $50,000 and $55,000.

Buying tips

  • Look for deals, special offers, incentives like rebates and loyalty rewards, and promotions on the new Jeep Gladiator to save money on the purchase. Local dealerships may offer discounts from time to time, so keeping an eye out for such deal announcements is important. Additionally, one might be able to find online deals.
  • Avoid settling for the first option without comparing Jeep Gladiator prices listed by other dealerships. One can easily look up “new Jeep Gladiator nearby” on a search engine to find local sellers and then use online comparison tools to check which one offers the best deal.
  • Consider buying a pre-owned pickup. This can help bring down the purchase price.
  • Negotiate the price, especially if shopping for an older model. Sellers are often willing to reduce the selling price.
  • Look for beneficial financing options at dealerships. Consider asking for low-interest financing options or dealer incentives to reduce the financial burden of buying a pickup.
  • Shop during the sale season to save money. Year-end and holiday sales can also reduce the upfront cost of an automobile significantly.
  • Leverage trade-in offers to reduce the overall cost. A well-maintained automobile can fetch a good trade-in value.
